Par conséquent, directement ou indirectement, le processus de photosynthèse fournit la majeure partie de l'énergie requise par les êtres vivants sur Terre. La photosynthèse entraîne également la libération d'oxygène dans l'atmosphère. Bref, pour manger et respirer, les humains dépendent presque entièrement des organismes qui effectuent la photosynthèse.
