    13.3 线性方程

    最基本的关联类型是线性关联。 这种类型的关系可以通过所用方程以代数方式定义,用实际或预测的数据值进行数值定义,也可以根据绘制的曲线以图形方式定义。 (直线被归类为直线。) 从代数上讲,线性方程通常采用以下形式\(\bf{y = mx + b}\),其中\(\bf m\)\(\bf b\)是常数,\(\bf x\)是自变量,\(\bf y\)是因变量。 在统计环境中,线性方程以以下形式书写\(\bf{y = a + bx}\),其中\(\bf a\)\(\bf b\)是常量。 此表单用于帮助读者区分统计上下文和代数上下文。 在方程中\(y = a + bx\),与\(\bf x\)变量\(b\)相乘的常数(\(b\)称为系数)称为斜率。 斜率描述自变量和因变量之间的变化率;换句话说,斜率描述了自变量变化时因变量发生的变化。 在方程中\(y = a + bx\),常数 a 被称为 y 截距。

    13.4 回归方程
