    Semelhante à explicação dos exemplos anteriores, os pontos finais não estão incluídos no intervalo. Portanto, o intervalo inclui todos os números entre -4 e 10, mas não -4 e 10.

    Até agora, os alunos devem ter uma ideia forte dos números que estão incluídos e não incluídos nos exemplos acima. Os alunos também devem ser capazes de analisar qualquer reta numérica e escrever a notação de intervalo apropriada para essa reta numérica.
