    Cette règle permet de simplifier une expression exponentielle portée à une puissance. Cette règle est souvent confondue avec la règle du produit. Il est donc important de comprendre cette règle pour réussir à simplifier les expressions exponentielles.

    Définition : La règle de puissance pour les exposants

    Pour tout nombre réel\(a\) et tous les nombres\(m\) et\(n\), la règle de puissance pour les exposants est la suivante :

    \((a^m)^n = a^{m\cdot n}\)

    Idée :

    Étant donné l'expression

    Par conséquent,\((2^2 ) ^3 = 2^{2\cdot 3 }= 2^6\)

    \((−y)^{5\cdot 2 }= (−y)^{10 }= y^{10}\)

    Simplifiez l'expression suivante à l'aide de la règle de puissance pour les exposants.

    Solution

    \(x^{−2\cdot 3 }= x^{−6 }= \dfrac{1 }{x^6}\)

    Conseil : La présence de parenthèses dans le problème est un bon indicateur de la simplification de l'utilisation de la règle de puissance pour les exposants.
