ידע נפוץ הוא עובדה שהיא בדרך כלל ידועה, לא שנויה במחלוקת וקל להסתכל עליה. הצהרות ידע נפוצות אינן דורשות ציטוט מכיוון שאתה מניח שהקורא כבר יודע את המידע הזה.
המקורות המופיעים בדוגמה זו הם:
- כותרת של הרדיו הציבורי הלאומי מאתר האינטרנט שלה כתוב, "נאום ההשבעה של הנשיא טראמפ, מבואר"
- כריכת הספר, מזכויות האזרח לזכויות אדם: מרטין לותר קינג הבן והמאבק לצדק כלכלי מאת תומאס פ.
- כותרת מאתר סקרמנטו בי שאומרת, "אלה החגיגות המובילות ברביעי ביולי שאתה לא רוצה לפספס."
במאמר - הפרצופים הבאים הקשורים למקורות ייחשבו לידע נפוץ ולא ידרשו ציטוט:
- דונלד ג'יי טראמפ הוא הנשיא ה -45 של ארצות הברית.
- ארצות הברית חוגגת את עצמאותה מבריטניה ב -4 ביולי.
- מרטין לותר קינג, ג'וניור מילא תפקיד מרכזי בתנועה לזכויות האזרח.
